GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - Two black bear cubs that are too habituated to people after being fed by a resident of southwestern Montana are being shipped via FedEx to an Alabama zoo.

Montana Wildlife Rehabilitation Center manager Lisa Rhodin says the bears were recently captured in Big Sky, where they had been feed by a resident and were “lounging around on somebody’s porch.”

The rehabilitation center takes in orphaned wildlife with the goal of returning them to the wild, but Rhodin tells the Great Falls Tribune (https://gftrib.com/1oqEsG5 ) these bears were simply too used to people.

Rehabilitation center staffers found the bears a home at the Birmingham Zoo.

The bears are scheduled to leave from Great Falls early Sunday on a FedEx plane. Rhodin says FedEx has a lot of experience shipping animals for the zoo industry.
