WELLINGTON, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a man and his dog have died after his truck collided with a tractor-trailer hauling 10 bulls in western Nevada.
Trooper Chuck Allen says in a statement that 87-year-old Samuel H. Dupuis of Wellington died at the scene of the crash, which was reported around 12:50 p.m. Monday.
Highway Patrol says the 18-wheeler pulling a livestock semitrailer hit Dupuis’ pickup truck after Dupuis began crossing State Route 208 at Kyle Drive, where a stop sign is posted. The semitrailer driver, 51-year-old William C. Whiteaker of Newman, Calif., used his brakes but couldn’t avoid hitting the left side of the pickup.
Allen says Whiteaker wasn’t injured and the 10 bulls also appeared to be unharmed.
Investigators closed both of SR 208’s travel lanes for several hours.
