Former Sen. Scott Brown said that all the Democratic Party attacks that have been unleashed against him in recent weeks aimed at driving him from the political stage are really having the opposite effect.
The attacks are only fueling him to jump in the Senate race in New Hampshire, he said, Politico reported.
“They keep running these negative ads and crushing my integrity and distorting my votes and the like — almost antagonizing me, challenging me to get in,” the former Massachusetts senator said to Politico. “Had they left me alone, I may feel a bit different. But they didn’t.”
Mr. Brown, 54, also said the ads weren’t “discouraging me, that’s for sure. If their intent was to discourage me, that’s definitely not the case.”
Mr. Brown has been talked about as a serious candidate in the New Hampshire race to counter Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, 67. And all the talk has driven Democratic operatives to take him on directly in political ads for Ms. Shaheen, as a strategy that seems intent on warning him against a race for the seat.
Mr. Brown hasn’t put together a campaign team for the seat, but many political analysts see his relocation from Massachusetts to New Hampshire as a clear indication of his desire to continue his career on Capitol Hill.
