JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Officials in Jeffersonville say the city won’t work on any more county vehicles until a service agreement is formalized.

City workers have traditionally serviced county vehicles. The News and Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1n63X0O ) the issue surfaced at a recent meeting when the maintenance chief asked for additional money to cover a part-time employee at the garage.

City Council President Dennis Julius said at a meeting Monday that the practice needs to be placed in writing to avoid liability problems and to recoup some of the work hours and overhead required by county service. He says the city garage doesn’t have work orders for parts, some of which are used in county vehicles.

City Attorney R. Scott Lewis says he can’t draw up an agreement because he also represents the county.
