HELENA, Mont. (AP) - FBI officials say a man has died after being struck in an exchange of gunfire with tribal police officers on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

FBI spokesman William Facer said in a statement Tuesday that Blackfeet police officers responded to reports of a man with a gun Monday evening.

Facer says the officers found the armed man and shots were exchanged. The man was hit and died upon arrival at a hospital.

The statement did not identify the man, nor did it say how many officers were involved, whether any of them were injured or who fired first.

Facey said he could not release any additional information Tuesday.

The FBI, the Glacier County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana Highway Patrol are investigating the shooting.
