LUSBY, Md. (AP) - A Maryland court says Dominion Resources can export natural gas from a terminal at Cove Point in Calvert County, a move the Sierra Club was trying to block.
The Washington Post (https://wapo.st/1cqJ8vY ) reports that the ruling by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, Maryland’s intermediate level court, came Friday. The terminal in Lusby was originally built for import, not export, but officials want to renovate the terminal to reverse the flow of gas at the site. Officials say the $3.8 billion renovation would employ thousands of people over several years.
The Sierra Club argued that an agreement the terminal’s original owner signed in 1972 bars exports. An updated version of the agreement was signed in 2005.
Dominion must still obtain approval from regulators for the project.
