ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - The cold weather is setting more records for low temperatures in Michigan.

The National Weather Service says the temperature in the Detroit area was 4 degrees early Tuesday. The weather service says that breaks the previous record low for March 4 of 5 degrees that was set in 1912.

The record-breaking temperature came as the cold eased somewhat Tuesday, with highs statewide expected in the teens and 20s.

On Monday in Flint, the weather service says a record low for March 3 was set of 16 degrees below zero. The old record of 11 below was set in 2003.

Some other records for snow and cold have been broken earlier this year in the state.
