2 Indiana packaging companies to merge

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - An Elkhart-based packaging company says it has acquired a similar business based in Marion.

Welch Packaging tells the South Bend Tribune (https://bit.ly/1i9EVit ) that it is taking over assets and operations of Indiana Corrugated.

Both companies make corrugated packaging, boxes and other products for industry.

With the addition of Indiana Corrugated, Welch has eight locations nationwide and has more than 500 employees.

Indiana Corrugated has 44 employees and serves customers throughout central Indiana.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Marion is about 80 miles southeast of Elkhart, which is near South Bend in northern Indiana.
