BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - The woman’s whose fight for equal pay led to Congress passing a law that bears her name is speaking at a forum on the gender wage gap in Montana.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1hsCjcR ) Lilly Ledbetter will speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Montana State University.

Ledbetter’s talk will open Gov. Steve Bullock’s Equal Pay Summit Tuesday. Last year, the Democratic governor created a task force to address the gap, saying a woman earns only 67 cents for every $1 a man makes in Montana.

Ledbetter sued Goodyear after finding her pay was thousands of dollars below her male colleagues. The U.S. Supreme Court rejected her lawsuit, but Congress passed the Lilly Ledbetter Act in 2009.

The law gives victims of wage discrimination more time to file a lawsuit.
