ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A House committee is preparing to take up a bill that would eliminate criminal charges for possessing small amounts of marijuana.
A hearing is planned in the House Judiciary Committee at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Senate has already approved the measure.
A similar bill passed the Senate last year but couldn’t make it through this same House committee to receive a full House of Delegates vote.
Also Tuesday, two health care advocacy groups will meet in Baltimore to celebrate recent insurance expansion.
The Maryland Health for All! Coalition and Health Care for the Homeless will meet at the latter group’s downtown health clinic. They’ll celebrate the expansion of health insurance coverage to nearly 260,000 people who have enrolled since Oct. 1, including 200,000 through Medicaid expansion.
