HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Many roads and properties are under water in Connecticut as flood warnings by the National Weather Service remain in effect in northwestern and southeastern parts of the state after heavy rains.

Norwich officials say part of one road washed out and many basements and streets were flooded. At least four city residents were forced to leave a multifamily home because of flooding.

Many shoreline neighborhoods also have flooding.

The Weather Service says a flood warning for the Housatonic River in New Milford remains in effect. The river is expected to rise to a half-foot above flood stage Monday in both New Milford and Canaan.

Parts of Stonington and North Stonington may be affected by flooding along the Pawcatuck River in Westerly, R.I. The river is two feet above flood stage.
