CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Two former Republican lawmakers have announced they’re running for secretary of state.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://tinyurl.com/kyypvom ) Ed Buchanan, who represented Torrington, and Pete Illoway, who represented Cheyenne, entered the race Monday.

Buchanan is Torrington lawyer and a former House speaker who said he left because of a self-imposed term limit.

Illoway served seven terms in the House. He serves on the board of the Wyoming Business Council.

Two other Republicans announced earlier this month they would seek the seat after incumbent Max Maxfield said he wouldn’t run for a third term.

Rep. Dan Zwonitzer of Cheyenne said he’ll give up his legislative seat to run. Clark Stith, a former Sweetwater County Republican chairman, is also running.

Stith has practiced law in Rock Springs since 1997.
