Rep. Mike Rogers said Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin shows no signs of retreat after annexing Crimea from the Ukraine, but he wouldn’t bet on intrusions into the eastern swath of the country.
“I would look at the south,” he told Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.
Mr. Rogers, Michigan Republican who said this week he will not seek re-election, based his analysis on troop movements that suggest Mr. Putin wants to link up his new holdings along the Black Sea, stretching from Georgia in the east to Moldova in the west, with the Crimea peninsula in between.
“He is absolutely not looking for a way out,” Mr. Rogers said.
