Piers Morgan is out at CNN — except when the big celebrity names come calling.

That’s according to Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman, who reported the development this weekend.

“I’ll make a deal to do 20 or 25 shows a year, all interviews with big names,” Mr. Morgan said, Mediaite reported, citing Mr. Friedman’s story. “That’s what I wanted to do in the first place, not reports on snow storms and that kind of thing.”

Mr. Friedman captured the comments during a run-in with Mr. Morgan at a Beverly Hills dinner that was hosted by Harvey Weinstein, Mediaite reported. He asked Mr. Morgan who — or what — he thought would replace him on his talk show, “Piers Morgan Live.”

“A news program of some kind,” Mr. Morgan reportedly said.

Mr. Morgan told TMZ a couple days ago that he was somewhat relieved that CNN showed him the door, because the firing gave him the opportunity to do fewer shows, but with celebrity guests with bigger names.
