ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn made it two in a row with the Big Ten’s decision Monday to name him its freshman of the week.
Nunn averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds a game in upset wins over Nebraska and Michigan State during the past week. He also chipped in 3.5 assists a game.
The Chicago Simeon product won last week’s award with a big game in a win at Minnesota.
Nunn won a starting spot late this season and has now started six straight games for the Illini (17-12, 6-10 Big Ten). They’re 4-2 over that stretch.
Indiana forward Will Sheehey was the Big Ten’s player of the week. He averaged 18.7 points on 60 percent shooting in three games for the Hoosiers.
