WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida woman who claimed to have psychic powers has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a multi-million-dollar scam.

A Palm Beach County judge sentenced 62-year-old Rose Marks on Monday. Jurors in September found Marks guilty on 14 fraud-related counts. Prosecutors had been seeking 22 years in prison.

Marks and other family members operated out of storefronts in Fort Lauderdale and New York City. Testimony showed she convinced people that money was the source of evil and that they should give her cash and valuables to be cleansed and returned. Most was not.

The Palm Beach Post (https://goo.gl/6DX8HV ) reports that one victim was romance novelist Jude Deveraux, who testified she gave Marks more than $12 million over 20 years.

Several other family members previously pleaded guilty for their involvement in the scam.
