Ellen DeGeneres broke President Obama’s Twitter record Sunday, as social media posters went nuts over a selfie the Oscars host snapped with a crowd of celebrities at the ceremony.
Between Sunday night and Monday morning, the photo was retweeted more than 2.5 million times — breaking the previous record of 700,000 held by a photo of the president embracing first lady Michelle Obama taken after his 2012 re-election, above the caption “four more years,” the Hill reported.
Miss DeGeneres’ selfie was actually snapped by actor Bradley Cooper and included the smiling faces of Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’o and her brother.
The photo was sent from Miss DeGeneres’ Twitter account with the caption, “If only Bradley’s arm was longer. Best photo ever. #oscars.”
