DENVER (AP) - A longtime spokesman for the Denver Police Department is being transferred to a new job amid an investigation into unspecified allegations of misconduct.

Police Cmdr. Matt Murray, the department’s chief of staff, said Monday the transfer of officer John White to duty at Denver International Airport isn’t punitive but that the chief decided was in the best interest of the department.

White didn’t immediately respond to phone messages seeking comment.

Murray, who is White’s supervisor, declined to elaborate on the nature of the allegations. Murray has said the district attorney’s office declined to bring criminal charges against White.

Murray says disciplinary action against White is pending.

White has been a Denver police officer for 15 years. The department hasn’t said who will replace him as spokesman.
