SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Patrick Corbin will start for the Diamondbacks when Arizona opens the major league season against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Australia on March 22.
Corbin, who went 14-8 last season with a 3.41 ERA, called getting the starting nod an honor. The left-hander was part of a Diamondbacks delegation that traveled to Sydney to promote the first-ever regular-season games to be played in Australia.
Right-hander Trevor Cahill, who went 8-10 with a 3.99 ERA in 2013, will start the second game for Arizona on March 23.
Manager Kirk Gibson announced his starters via Twitter on Monday.
