ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County police say a man is dead following a fight and police chase that ended when a car crashed into a tree.

Police say 29-year-old James Patrick Darcy Jr. of Annapolis was killed early Saturday when the car he was riding in crashed.

Police say the incident started about 4 a.m. on St. Margaret’s Road near Meadow Valley Drive. That’s where 27-year-old John Kinlein of Baltimore stopped his 2011 Mitsubishi to help a disabled vehicle. But a confrontation broke out with an occupant of the disabled vehicle.

An officer saw the Mitsubishi back up and hit 19-year-old Nathan Dunn Jr. of Annapolis. Dunn grabbed the car and was dragged a short distance.

An officer tried to stop the Mitsubishi and chased it a mile before it lost control.
