PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix’s newly promoted city manager may be in line for a $56,000 raise.
City leaders are scheduled to vote Wednesday to approve a $315,000 annual salary for Ed Zuercher.
He was unanimously appointed to the job last month by the City Council.
Zuercher has been earning almost $259,000 since he became acting city manager last October.
If the council approves the raise, Zuercher’s salary would be the same as his predecessor, David Cavazos.
Zuercher’s raise would be retroactive to Feb. 19, when the council voted to appoint him city manager.
The Arizona Republic reports that Zuercher’s proposed contract doesn’t include some of the perks that Cavazos received.
Zuercher won’t be able to use sick leave or his cellphone and auto allowances to inflate his future pension benefit from the city.
