AMES, Iowa (AP) - Police are investigating the theft of a foot-tall bronze owl from the Iowa State University campus in Ames.
Allison Sheridan, spokeswoman for ISU museums, tells The Des Moines Register (https://dmreg.co/1lcYIf6) that the theft of the 10-pount sculpture, titled “Epilogue,” occurred sometime within the last month.
For three years, the owl had perched on a wall that overlooked a sculpture of benches and books created by artist Harriett Bart.
The theft is at least the second of ISU art in recent months. In September, vandals stole the head of a red-painted metal sculpture of a person, titled “Solo.” Artist William King is refabricating a new head for the sculpture.
