Columnist David Keene draws a parallel between the foreign policies of former President Jimmy Carter and President Obama. He calls the policies “strikingly similar” (“When foreign policy fantasy collides with the real world,” Commentary, March 25).

Mr. Keene concludes by saying, “American Exceptionalism [is] wholly absent from the thinking of Mr. Obama and those around him.” The Internet and the World Wide Web are shining examples of American exceptionalism that bear another striking similarity to Mr. Carter’s policies.

Mr. Carter gave away the Panama Canal, also a paragon of American exceptionalism. Mr. Obama would give away the Internet.
