OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Gov. Jay Inslee has signed a measure to allow a person under a restraining order for domestic violence to be ordered to surrender all firearms.

Inslee signed House Bill 1840 on Friday, and it takes effect Dec. 1.

The bill that allows the subject of such a restraining order to be required give up his or her guns after a hearing if a judge rules that person is a credible threat.
