GAINSEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The Dawson County Board of Education has named Damon Gibbs as its choice for new superintendent.

The Gainesville Times (https://tinyurl.com/mx7bmq4 ) reported that the school board announced Gibbs as finalist on Friday. Gibbs is the executive director of facilities for the Hall County Board of Education. Gibbs is a University of Georgia graduate with a doctorate in educational leadership. He served as principal at Johnson High School and Spout Springs Elementary School in South Hall.

School board chairman Roger Slaton said they are negotiating the final details of a proposed contract.
