MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy says he looks forward to working with colleagues in the Senate to ensure that Vermont’s community-driven responses to opioid and heroin addiction receive the support necessary to succeed.
His comments came from his first report to the Senate on the judiciary hearing held in Rutland last week.
Leahy says that Vermont’s opioid addiction issues have “regional echoes and national implications” and that testimony submitted to the Judiciary Committee “offers a blueprint” for other communities national.
Leahy says he will discuss law enforcement strategies and partnerships with Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency Michele Leonhart next month when she speaks to the Judiciary Committee.
