YouTube has been blocked in Turkey, just a day after a court overruled a decision to ban Twitter.
Turkey’s telecoms authority said it had taken an “administrative measure” against the site but another report suggests that talks are underway, BBC reported.
The ban comes after a newly leaked recording posted from an anonymous account on YouTube supposedly included a key security meeting discussing possible Turkish military operations in Syria.
The unverified recording claims to include intelligence chief Hakan Fidan discussing with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Deputy Chief of Staff Yasar Guler and other officials a possible operation to secure the tomb of Suleyman Shah in an area of northern Syria largely controlled by militant Islamists, Reuters reported.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan tried to block Twitter ahead of the March 30 elections and has threatened to block Facebook, accusing the social media platforms of allowing the dissemination of false information. His ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has been embroiled in controversy for months.
