CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol is announcing the appointment of Deputy Chief Brian Sanchez to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
The promotion was announced Wednesday by leadership at the Department of Public Safety and NHP.
Sanchez joined the Nevada Highway Patrol in 1990 and has risen through the ranks during his 24-year career.
He will assume his new duties Thursday. Sanchez replaces former NHP Lt. Col. Todd Ellison who retired in December after serving more than 28 years with the agency.
A formal promotion ceremony will be held at a later date.
