BLAIR, S.C. (AP) - Federal officials are offering a chance for people to talk about safety at a nuclear plant in South Carolina.

Officials from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission are in Blair on Thursday for an open house on safety performance at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station during 2013.

The open house is being held in the gymnasium at the McCrorey-Liston School of Technology. Afterward, there is also a public meeting scheduled to talk about the construction of two new units being built at V.C. Summer.

The new reactors are expected to come online in 2018 and 2019. Officials say the operating unit at Summer met all of the NRC’s safety objectives last year.
