SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - The Spokane County medical examiner’s office has identified a man fatally shot by police.
The 30-year-old man killed Wednesday night was identified as Stephen C. Corkery. The medical examiner says he died of gunshot wounds.
The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/OZ5mgJ ) that police say Corkery was armed with a gun when he walked out of a one-story house and refused commands to drop the weapon. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots.
Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton has described the man as a suspect in an armed robbery earlier this week at a Baskin Robbins.
Eleven armed robberies have been reported in Spokane in the last month.
Court records show Corkery had previous felony convictions for residential burglary, theft of a firearm and stolen property trafficking.
