DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Lions say they’ve signed a contract with free agent safety James Ihedigbo (ee-HEAD-ee-bo).
The Lions say they’re withholding terms of the deal, but a person familiar with it say it’s for two years. The person spoke Tuesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hadn’t been announced.
Ihedigbo made 99 tackles and had three interceptions for the Baltimore Ravens last year.
He started 12 games in 2011 for the New England Patriots. Ihedigbo made his NFL debut with the New York Jets during the 2008 season.
The Jets cut him the previous year as an undrafted rookie, who’d gone from being a walk-on to a standout at Massachusetts.
The Lions have been seeking a safety alongside Glover Quin to replace Louis Delmas.
