CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of trying to rob a Casper bank had been arrested a day earlier on a public intoxication charge.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported Thursday (https://tinyurl.com/m23g5jp ) 61-year-old Jack S. Taber was arrested on a federal charge of attempted bank robbery.

The FBI says a man walked into a Wells Fargo bank Wednesday and demanded a teller put money in a bag and give it to him. The teller said she didn’t have a bag and would get one. Another employee called 911 and the man left.

Police say when they looked at bank surveillance video, they recognized the suspect as Taber from his intoxication arrest Tuesday.

Taber was then arrested at a library.

Jail officials said they had no record of whether he had a lawyer.
