GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - Glendale police have arrested a couple on suspicion of child endangerment, saying their 11-year-old daughter lived in a filthy home where the parents sold fake heroin.
The Los Angeles Times (https://bit.ly/1jUynAP ) says Thomas Casillas and Vanessa Hidalgo were arrested on March 18 during a probation check. They remain jailed Thursday.
Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot says officers described seeing dog feces and rotting food in their house.
Police say a black tar-like substance that Casillas was selling turned out to be Mexican candy.
Casillas and Hidalgo were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and being felons in possession of ammunition.
Their daughter was turned over to child welfare workers.
