JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Senate President Charlie Huggins says the governor’s education bill will likely be sent to Senate Finance once it passes the House.
Versions of the bill were introduced in the House and Senate. The Senate Education Committee recently sent its rewrite of the measure to Senate Finance.
Senate Finance Committee co-chair Kevin Meyer says his committee will work on the House version when it comes over. House Finance is currently working on the bill, which still must pass the House.
Huggins said he had no concerns about sending the bill to Senate Finance, rather than having Senate Education look over what the House did.
Overall, Huggins said the Senate is generally sticking to its timelines for movement of bills. He expects the operating budget on the Senate floor early next week.
