BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area woman faces charges after authorities say her 6-week-old daughter died from injuries sustained after repeatedly being thrown.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office charged 26-year-old April Weber with one count of murder and one count of aggravated child abuse. Weber called authorities Sunday and said she had “accidentally dropped” her baby while she was bouncing the infant on her leg.

Detectives said Weber admitted to lifting Aubrie by the legs, above her head and throwing the infant onto the bed. The infant bounced off the bed and onto the floor. Officials also said Weber threw the baby, who struck the dresser.

The Tampa Bay Times reports (https://bit.ly/1nUDNBO) that Weber was arrested Monday and was being held without bail. It’s unclear whether she has retained an attorney.
