Conservative radio’s Mark Levin — affectionately dubbed “The Great One” by colleagues and fans alike — blasted Sen. Mitch McConnell and his fellow GOP leaders, characterizing them as RINOs, or Republicans-In-Name-Only, whose time to leave office had come.
Mr. McConnell, especially, invoked Mr. Levin’s ire for what he said was an undermining of Republicans in the House who wanted to pass a “clean” bill that would have only included $1 billion in funding for the International Monetary Fund for Ukraine aid — and not “extraneous” funding measures, The Associated Press reported.
Because of Mr. McConnell’s pressing, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid won big from Republicans yet again, Mr. Levin said, The Blaze reported.
“[McConnell] delivered more than half of the Republican conference into the hands of Harry Reid and the Democrats, enabling them to gain leverage over the GOP-controlled House and pass this IMF crap,” Mr. Levin said, during a recent broadcast. “McConnell was pressing Republican senators to join Harry Reid on this vote.”
And to Mr. Levin, that’s just yet one more sign that Mr. McConnell is hardly a friend of conservatives.
“He’s not a conservative,” Mr. Levin said, AP reported. “He’s an operator.”
On Tuesday, though, Mr. McConnell said in floor remarks that the “controversial IMF provision must be removed” in order for the bill to pass through the House.
