Russian President Vladimir Putin swallowed Crimea while the West dithered, talked and theorized.

Have we forgotten the Brezhnev Doctrine, declared by Leonid Brezhnev in 1979 to facilitate the invasion of Afghanistan? This gave Russia the right to use military power as they saw fit in order to realize Soviet ambitions. As Mr. Putin shows by actions on the ground, the USSR and Soviet ambitions yet live — they only wear a different suit of clothes today.

We must stop being naive in failing to recognize a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Remember Neville Chamberlain?
