HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) - A Los Angeles man charged with running over his estranged wife’s Chihuahua in a videotaped attack has pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty.

City News Service says 45-year-old Michael David Parker also entered pleas Tuesday to animal neglect and petty theft of a dog. He could face more than five years in state prison if convicted.

Authorities say Parker took his wife’s 5 1/2-year-old Chihuahua, Cow Cow, to a Hawthorne alley on Dec. 28, ran over it and left it to die.

Police say a nearby resident found the dog and put its body in a bag. A surveillance video captured the crime.
