Justin Casquejo, the teen who managed to breach the security at the World Trade Center and climb to the near-top at the spire, now says he’s sorry — he didn’t mean any harm.
The 16-year-old made the mea culpa on Twitter: “I seriously apologize to anyone who may have been insulted or felt disrespected by my actions. It was not my intention to do so.”
That’s a lot wordier than what he tweeted from the tower’s top: “Inspired.”
Justin’s climb shined an embarrassing light on the Port Authority, the New York Police Department and two private security companies — all of which were supposed to keep an eye on the World Trade Center and keep it safe from intruders. Justin apparently rode to the 88th floor, without showing identification, and snuck past a sleeping guard on the 104th floor. He stayed there until a construction worker caught him.
The security guard has reportedly been fired and the facility’s security system is being reevaluated.
