Malaysia’s prime minister is set to address “new developments” in the search for the plane that disappeared somewhere over the Indian Ocean two weeks ago, befuddling investigators and leaving the families of the missing passengers in anguish.
CNN reports that an Australian navy ship is heading for a spot far off the western coast of its country where a “grey or green circular object” and “an orange rectangular object” were spotted by a surveillance plane.
While previous leads have led to dead-ends, the late-breaking discovery appears to be the most promising development yet in finding traces of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared March 8 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing.
The flight had 227 passengers and a dozen crew members on board.
