Police in Greece said on Monday that the warning calls of a bomb sent into local television stations turned out to be true, and they found and safely destroyed a device that was located outside a tax office in the western portion of Athens.
The threats said the device was supposed to explode on Monday, The Associated Press reported.
The device didn’t detonate, and nobody was injured, AP said.
But police evacuated the area anyway, including the entire Korydallos neighborhood, to send in teams to destroy the device, AP reported.
Police aren’t yet sure who is responsible for the bomb. Tax offices in the past have been targeted by anarchist groups and far-left fringe radicals, Greek authorities said.
