Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is going back to his roots, equipping his mansion with his very own beer taps.

State officials announced Friday that private donors have paid for a new “draft beer system” in the governor’s home. He now has three taps that will feature changing Colorado-made brews.

The new taps help usher in Colorado Craft Beer Week, which runs through Saturday.

“It’s only appropriate that Colorado has our governor’s mansion be the first mansion to have draft beer because if you look at some of these statistics, we are by any measure at the forefront of the craft brewing industry,” Mr. Hickenlooper said, a local CBS News affiliate reported.

Mr. Hickenlooper was one of the founders of Wynkoop Brewing Company in 1988 before getting into politics.

Marijuana legalization activists criticized the installation, saying the governor supports beer consumption but is skeptical of recreational marijuana use.
