TORONTO (AP) - James Stewart came from behind to win the AMA Supercross race at Rogers Centre on Saturday night, earning his fourth victory of the season to take sole possession of second place on the career wins list with his 49th victory.
Stewart began the 450SX Class race in mid-pack and crossed the line in ninth on the opening lap. He moved up steadily, taking third by the 11th lap and passing Justin Barcia for the lead on lap 14.
Stewart pulled away in the closing laps to post back-to-back victories and become the series’ winningest rider this season. Barcia was a season-best second, holding off Ryan Dungey in third.
Stewart passed Ricky Carmichael on the wins list and is 23 behind the record of 72 held by Jeremy McGrath.
Earlier, Justin Bogle used a strong start in the 250SX Class to capture his first career main event win.
