SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane International Airport spokesman says a FedEx plane returned to the airport Friday night after the three-person crew got a warning light indicating smoke or flame in the cargo hold.
Spokesman Todd Woodard says the plane landed shortly after 8 p.m. and fire crews found no sign of smoke or flames in the hold. Woodward says the plane was about 40 miles from the airport when it turned back.
The spokesman says the airport’s own rescue and firefighting squad responded, as did two Spokane Fire Department crews and a crew from Fire District 10.
FedEx spokesman Scott Fiedler says the MD10 was headed to Memphis, Tenn., and returned safely to Spokane “due to a technical issue.” He declined to describe the issue but said aircraft maintenance was reviewing it.
