DENVER (AP) - Aurora police have arrested two people accused of selling synthetic marijuana throughout the Denver area.

Police on Friday announced the arrests of a 54-year-old Dowinder Boparai and a 28-year-old Seble Gebreegziadhair on narcotics charges stemming from a yearlong investigation.

Officers say they seized more than 12,000 packets of synthetic marijuana, often referred to as “spice.” Police say the two were major suppliers of the drug.

The drug was believed to have sickened 221 people in Colorado during a monthlong outbreak between August and September.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates says the drug is dangerous, and is thankful officers have gotten so much spice off the streets.
