BENTON, Ky. (AP) - A grand jury has declined to indict a judge-executive in western Kentucky in an ethics case.
The Paducah Sun (https://bit.ly/1ghNzK5) reports the panel returned a no true bill on Thursday in Benton, which means Judge-Executive Mike Miller was cleared of criminal wrongdoing.
Miller had faced allegations of misconduct and making a false entry in the public record stemming from a part-time county employee, Golden Rod Kirk, receiving unemployment benefits after officially retiring. His personnel record, signed by Miller, indicates he was laid off, but the county held a retirement party for him. Kirk returned $3,000 in benefits he received.
Miller’s attorney, Marty Johnson, said his client is glad to put the issue behind him and get on with county business.
