BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge man has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to threatening to retaliate against a witness in a tax fraud case.
Anthony Williams had pleaded guilty in October and his sentencing was set for Friday in Baton Rouge. The sentence was announced by the Justice Department after the hearing.
As part of a plea agreement, William admitted threatening to cause bodily injury to a witness who testified in a federal trial involving his mother, Angela Myers. Authorities say Williams also admitted sending a threat via the social network Instagram.
Last year, Myers was convicted for her role in a stolen identity tax refund fraud scheme. She was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
