SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Walmart has apologized to a 68-year-old woman who says managers persuaded her not to call police after she was robbed in a Southern California store.
Linda Andrade of San Bernardino says she was at the Highland Avenue Walmart on March 14 when a man yanked a gold chain from her neck.
Andrade tells the San Bernardino Sun (https://bit.ly/1j9P0fQ) that she began screaming for security but nobody showed up until after the man fled. When she asked for someone to call police, Andrade says management kept telling her officers wouldn’t show for hours.
She finally went home and called police, who arrived within 15 minutes. They’re seeking the robber.
Walmart spokeswoman Dianna Gee said Wednesday that the company can do better, has talked to store employees and apologizes for Andrade’s experience.
