Taliban militants staged a bold attack on a police station in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, killing 10.
The seven attackers were killed, too — either gunned down by police fire or blown up by the bombs they wore while attacking, The Washington Post reported.
The attack, which took place just east of Jalalabad and spanned four hours, went forth just before dawn. It started when one of the militants suicide-bombed a vehicle just outside the police station. The remaining six then stormed the base, the newspaper reported.
“In total, as a result of the incident, 10 of our brave policemen and one civilian were martyred, and 14 more people, including police, were wounded,” said Abdul Rahmi Abdulzai, a spokesman for the governor, in The Post reported.
Taliban militants have vowed to stage as many attacks as possible to disrupt the April 5 presidential election.
