MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Rain, melting snow and ice jams are causing flooding along the River Raisin in Monroe, while the National Weather Service warns of a flood danger on the Grand River near Grand Rapids.

WXYZ-TV reports some street flooding in Monroe on Thursday morning, surrounding homes and vehicles. The Monroe News reports that the Coast Guard cutter Neah Bay helped help break up the ice to let the river flow on into Lake Erie.

In western Michigan, the weather service has issued a flood warning for the Grand River near the Grand Rapids suburb of Comstock Park because of ice jams. It warns drivers to stay behind barricades because water levels can change quickly.

So far, the weather service says state’s other rivers remain within their banks.
